I was visiting the Pulsar SHOT booth and the guys had a prototype Quantum thermal monocular with color palettes and software designed range finding. If you've followed my previous threads on thermal scopes and monoculars you will come to know that I am a fiend for color palettes, especially the SEPIA color http://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/5249791Well I was giddy to find that Pulsar has listened to feedback on incorporating color palettes and it will be a feature of a future model (ETA unknown at this time) Another concept in the works is software based range finding, there were three options, small / med / large game (rabbit / pig / big deer) and essentially you frame the animal you are spotting in a pair of brackets and it gives you an estimation on the range to target based on average animal dimensions. These features ought to make an already feature and performance rich product even better in 2015/2016, stay tuned to Pulsar's website or your NV dealer for release dates. HTXH P.S. - No word on weather this feature will come to the APEX thermal weapon sights but believe me I will be pushing from this end for it

Do you think it's possible they might offer a firmware update for existing units?

Gotcha. I'm sure it'll be good. The pulsar line blows everything else out of the water in the price point.

Old thread I know but I just wanted to mention that my Pulsar HD38a will be arriving on Friday and that the new firmware will be on it. All new units being shipped ending in the letter a will now have the septa color option and PIP.
This is per Matt at Pulsar tech support.
Thanks Ben!
