Hi guys. His my first post on THF. I'm a long time regular at TFF. After almost 14 great years, we had to put our boy Bo down last weekend. He was an incredible Chesapeake Bay Retriever. There aren't a lot of those around this area. While we don't intend to get a new dog right away, we want to have some ideas on where to go to find one. Does anyone know of a Chessie breeder in the DFW area? If so can you post or PM either a link to a site or a contact number? It would be much appreciated. I'm putting in a picture of our boy. It was a rough weekend.

Sorry for your loss, I'm sure that is tough to go through.

I don't have any first hand knowledge of breeders, but you can keep an eye on Retriever training forum for pups that come available, and can research leads from there.

Here is a link to the CBR puppies available currently: I'd check it every once in a while to see what is out there and who breeds them.

Good luck

I've been looking at getting a Chessie myself. My fiancé and I have an Australian Shepherd right now. Here's a breeder I found a while back:

I am truly sorry for your loss. I'm not looking forward to the day we lose our dog.

Kelli Corcoran has a male and female puppy left. She's not in our backyard but she's not that far either. You're not going to find a good local breeder I'm afraid. Chessies are rare in TX much less in the DFW area.

Good Luck.

Sorry to hear. We will not be looking to get another dog until September/October but because they are hard to find we are doing our home work now. Let me know if you have any other recommendations and we appreciate it! FYI I don't know if this will be familiar to you, but Bo's sire was Chestnut Hills James Bowie. He won best of breed at Westminster in 2003! Bo was not a show dog because of the white spot on his chest. We got him from Judith Haynes. Does anyone know what happened with her? We heard she retired a few years ago.

If you're looking more towards fall. I'll hopefully be able to help you then. I'm familiar with the Chestnut Hill's kennel. I do not know Judith Haynes. That doesn't mean anything though. I'm pretty new to the breed.
