I have the Encore and recommend it, there are tons of calibers and stuff for it. Word of warning though they are fun and can become a money pit

Another vote for the Encore. So many choices to be had with one.

How do they compare, price-wise?

The Encore looks nicer, the Scout looks less expensive.

If I were on a budget and did not anticipate a need for changing calibers, I would be tempted to go for the Scout.

In a pistol length barrel you will find the 243 will have a lot of muzzle blast and in barrels that short a smaller more efficient cartridge actually can yield acceptable performance. Something to look at and think about.
