I got started duck hunting a few years back on a south Louisiana rice farm. I was completely spoiled and I knew it. I was in the army at Fort Polk, LA and one of my battle buddies made friends with a great guy that let us hunt with him on his farm and it was great! However, It's been quite an adjustment to trying to find ducks on public land out of the north side of Houston. I finally can say I had a successful hunt on public water/land this past Wednesday. I shot my limit of woodies in about 30-45 minutes and waited hoping a green head or teal would show up but none did. I regretted not having my sons with me to possibly get their first ducks, but it was pleasant nonetheless. The woodies just kept coming and were fun to watch. Below is my pup, Tessie, my new (to me) truck I had bought the night before and the volunteer ingredients for cheddar duck chili.
