My dad picked one of these up at a pawn shop for $200. Blued, heavy barrel, and nice walnut stock in .223. Also had a BSA 3x9x50 illuminated dot scope on it. are these rifles worth a darn? Did he get a terrific deal or so so?

I wouldn't own a Rossi if it was given to me.

I've handled several of their single shot rifles. Some shot okay. Some shot minute of paper plate. All had horrible fit and finish. The actions were loose enough I thought they may just fall apart.

I wouldn't want a Taurus made Rossi in general and I'm no snob....I actually have a Rossi but it's older and made by Interarms (good quality) not Taurus. Both Rossi and Taurus have changed ownership many times so it's tough to make blanket statements about them.

If it looks like it has quality fit and finish then take it out and try it. If it shoots well, you win.

Pass the gravy.
