We are having a great season at our lease in Oklahoma. Thought I would share a a few pics. I promise I will have a better camera next year (not getting anything crazy but will have a better one with some zoom capabilities). Bleu on a nice covey. Bleu with Daisy backing him. Same point from a different angle with D.0.G. backing. Daisy on a covey. (shortest grass has been where we are finding our birds this year) Jake and Ace backing Daisy (they came from around on the back side of that tall grass & didn't see her till they were almost past her).
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Like the pictures. How is Ace working out for you?

We really like him. He is a great dog. Likes to run a little big sometimes but he is getting better about checking back in. This was a Garmin find he made this trip. The Garmin beeped and said Ace is on point 200 yards, sure enough, there he was.

Your Ace looks a lot like my PeeWee. Much darker markings, but otherwise, shape of the head, body, tail..all look like they could be brothers. I hope Ace behaves himself. I have been fighting my ole outlaw for 11 years now. He is a great birdfinder, and will hold them 'til the cows come home. He just gets it in his head every now and again to take a tour of whatever ranch we happen to be on at the time.

That's the way he is. I told my buddy on the way up this past weekend that I had a new rule for Ace, when he is outa sight for more than a few seconds, I'm making him come back in, well both times that I called him back in Sunday Morning, he found a covey. If I hadn't made him come back in, Daisy would have beat him to both coveys no doubt. I'm going to stick to that rule with him now for a while. I just wish I could keep a little more weight on him, he eats like a horse and is skin & bones.

There's a big difference between running big and bolting. Cookie was the fastest bird dog most people have ever seen. She cleaned the field as she ran. We have found her on point at 500 yards but we never found any birds getting there. Cracker will bolt. She'll just boogie. The Garmin has found her on point at 720 yards. We found birds while getting there.

Great pics, cover and terrain looks a lot like a place I used to hunt in the 90s near Lindsay Ok

Looks like you had a good hunt. What size coveys are you seeing?
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

Thanks y'all. We have been seeing 10+ in each covey. Some more than that. A couple have been less.
