If both sides of the fence have habitat that is equally attractive for holding deer, I see no foul. However, having an agreement to retrieve a deer that ends up across the fence would be strongly suggested.

Both sides can hunt every inch of their own land! Only thing I ask is not to have corn/feed slinging across my property line from the feeder and don't shoot your projectile into my land. I do the same for my neighbors.

As far as I know, there is no law against throwing your hook next to another angler's boat when he's catching all the fish. Does that also make it ethical?

I have 68 acres and my feeder is in the middle of my land. I have two neighbors. One across the creek is 460 acres that is pure jungle that nobody hunts with the owners just holding it as a long term investment. My other neighbor has 240 acres and he has four feeders. One of them is probably fifty yards from our property line. He has never shot anything off of it, but he keeps filling it with corn and it draws the hogs in, then they cross over to my place. I think most of the hogs on his land follow the same path of feeders on to my place, where we shoot about a dozen of them a year. In my case, it's turned out to be a great thing.

And there is nothing unethical or illegal about hunting every inch of your land. Does it really matter if I shoot a deer 2" into my land or 2'? How about 2' or 100', maybe 200'.....where do you ethical hunters draw the line? I draw it at the fence line......a lot easier to understand, especially for family and guest. I am not asking them to bring a 500' tape and make sure they are 350' inside the line when they put up a stand. As far as feeders, I use very little of those and they are for hog hunting only.

Let me get this straight......If I buy 80 acres of land, I should only hunt the inner 40 and leave the rest for the neighbor to hunt??? PITT, I think the problem is the direction of fire not really where the feeder is. A solution would be to have the stand facing INTO your property (but not too close to the property border) with your feeder in front of you. That way you can still hunt the edge, but not be firing across into someone elses property.

I hunt with a bow, so I can pretty much let one fly on the one inch line and be good to go!

Track it, find it, quarter it, let it age, process it, and eat it.......isn't that what everyone else does?

Does it really matter if someone sticks a deer 3000 feet from the fence or 1" from the fence? If it crosses over the lines, you need to get permission from land owner to recover. I have agreements with both landowners that own next to me we all get along fine.
By law you must try your best to recover a wounded animal. If the neighbor won't let you in, call the game warden.....99% chance the game warden will rectify that situation.

GW has no authority in such instance. He can't gain entrance to a property to look for a wounded/dead deer that was legally shot. You did all you could do to try and recover the deer. Your responsibility to attempt to recover the deer ended at the fence row. Likewise, the neighbor doesn't have to allow you access to his property to look for said deer. No laws were/are broken in either instance.

According to many on this forum, the GW has more power than the president. But, I totally agree that the GW has no power to force the neighbor to let you look for a wounded deer. Or course, that would not be a very smart decision for any landowner.....you don't want to be on the bad side of any GW. Most of the northern states don't mess around with deer recovery. The GW will get a warrant to search property in 5 minutes.....heck, the judge might even come help look for the deer.

If the bullet crosses the fence what is it going to hit? It will hit a violation of the Texas Penal Code.

I've actually had this chit happen at Texoma. Except the guy pulls up and 'throws' his anchor right next to my boat as we're catching fish. He got an arse chewing and apologized profusely. Some folks are plum eat up with the dumbarse.

Actually use to hunt a different place that was like that where the guys stand was on the fence but his feeder was 100 yards in his place....so it was fine..didn't care....Yes the problem is the feeder placement.....again, about 70-80 yards on our side was my brothers stand that we had setup 2 years before these guys came and setup this feeder in question......I left a note on his feeder saying we hunt close to here...etc...etc...they didn't move the feeder so my brother ended relocating further away....kinda sucks we had to move when we were there already...

Make a sign that reads.....
TEX PW. CODE ANN. § 62.0121 : Texas Statutes - Section 62.0121: - (b) A person commits an offense if:(1) the person, while hunting or engaging in recreational shooting, knowingly discharges a firearm; and(2) the projectile from the firearm travels across a property line.
....and hang it on the fence in clear sight of his blind.... I like that.. this one gets my vote
