That might make me look at them again.
Other than sales, how are they doing price wise?
When they first opened here in San Antonio they were higher than everyone else. Of course that was during the ammo scare and they were riding the higher prices wave, and like our local private shops, they lost my business. I haven't been back.

That's what I have found at the new store in west Fort Worth.

Their pricing on ammo is just this side of ridiculous.

I've stopped in the Mesquite store twice. I don't see how they stay in business.

The store in Sherman has been there for years and doesn't seem to have outrageous prices although I don't shop for guns at retail stores. Maybe it's the difference between new stores in the city and old store in town? Just looked at their online store and see they have rimfire in stock.....22WMR shot shells that is. Hey, what's not to like about .357 for $0.80 per round?

Even at 10% off, they are still higher than other stores, on everything! I stopped shopping there because their prices are so rediculous, their gun counter people are not knowledgable, and their customer service at the gun counter is the worst!

The guncounter guys at the Lubbock store appear to be mainly Tech students, and while they try, most of them don't know a semi-auto from a revolver. Also their prices are ridiculous. Most of their stuff is 30-50% higher than I can get it at Academy, so a 10% discount isn't doing anything for me. They do have some decent sale items every now and then-for instance, they have several different boots right now that are actually a great deal. But I'm not going to hunt for a needle in a haystack.

Also, while they sort of made it right, I did a ship-to-store with them and they lost 1 of my two orders. Manager said they likely gave it to the wrong person (more likely an employee took it, as they have no system in place to monitor those orders).

Pretty much my thoughts. We have one right here in town. I only go in an emergency when I need something no one else has quickly. Don't even go to the gun counter to look anymore-too many lectures from an older guy that works there on how whatever gun I ask to look at is the perfect rifle for everything from prairie dogs to brown bear and I am an idiot if I don't buy it.

A 10% discount is still 25% too high.

The only GM I go in is the Amarillo store. Haven't been in there in a good while. I did pick up some Browning Citori Gran Lightnings there at 50% off. One of the best deals ever. Guess it just depends on the store and timing. Lubbock store is disappointing

I know a guy that works the gun counter in one of the stores. He tells me they sell more guns than Basspro or Cabelas combined. I have a hard time believing that at the prices they charge. Basspro alone maybe, but not Cabelas.

I bought some fishing rods there during their big sale after Bass season. It was like half price.

Same in Lewisville, ammo and guns much higher than anyone else. One of the gun counter guys chuckled when he overheard me say that I shop at Buds (online), and he said he did as well.

I picked up a brand new CZ American 550 in .243 about 4 years ago...awesome rifle for less than $500! Only thing I've ever bought there that I can remember...they are always too expensive!

I have been into the Lewisville store 3 or 4 times...I've spent a sum total of $0 there. I've never gone into Cabella's and not managed to buy SOMETHING...Cabela's prices are much better. About the only place that Gander is cheaper than is Cheaper Than Dirt in McKinney and well, EVERYONE is cheaper than them smile

Gander prices are insanely high! I dont see how they sell more than Cabelas. Every time I go to Gander which is almost weekly in Lewisville there isn't more than 1 person buying a firearm. I went to Cabelas in Allen at 1pm on a Wednesday and they had a line of 20 people waiting to checkout with a firearm. I just run into GM because it is next door to Target. I have never spend more than $30 there

Wife and I were just in the Waco Gander Mtn. She was looking around and found a sale rack. The sign, from a distance said "50% off". She found a nice shirt she liked, but looked again at the sign, which in very fine print actually said "up to 50% off". The sale price of that shirt was exactly 3 cents less than the pre-sale price.

I found two big ammo cans of 22lr ammo with 1000 rounds for $130 plus tax. I left them there. And we left.

Gander is a joke! I was looking at the same 100 pack 45ACP that Walmart sells for around $33 and Gander was a hair shy of $70 for the same dang box. They can take their 10% sale and stick it where the sun don't shine!!!
