Sorry to hear of your misfortune with this outfit. This sounds eerily familiar to a group hog hunt I went on about 4 years ago. Jacksboro area, same approach to guiding, same result (not one single hog seen), pics prior to hunt but no cameras on property...it all sounds very familiar, but I can't recall the name/s of the guys we worked with. Posted bad reviews on the outfit after the failed hunt & hoped that would put a stop to it. I sure hope those a**hats aren't still duping good folks.

He refunded us $475 to be split among the four of us for taking down the BBB complaint. He is now asking me to get rid of this thread and he will refund more money. He can keep the rest.

I think i saw that add or one like it on craigslist, sorry to hear that and the guys sound like cons, sounds like the only reason ge sent the 2nd guy was to collect more cash from you.

Ive got some good references for meat hunts around the state if you would like them for future reference send me a PM.

It blows my mind to hear about all these ( so called outfitters ) that have no clue what to do and just cheat people. I personally the way I am would not of tipped THE GUIDE, but beat his AZZ if he got loose with the lip. It really ticks me off because it give guys like me that make a living guiding a bad rap. Your better men than I am, I would have a hard time with this one or any of the other horrible stories my clients tell me they have experienced. I am really sorry any of you guys go through this crap. I guess by checking reviews on here will protect someone from another bad hunt.

On another note, I have 10 meat hunts left this season of MLD if anyone is interested. I had a friend of mine cancel his hunt due to an emergency back in Houston for in the morning. Lets Hunt !

I had a bad experience with Band Of Brothers.Put us on what looked like 50 acres in Jacksboro.A guy met us,took our money and never saw him again.Or any game. The landowner burned trash both days right over the hill from our blinds.$800 plus hotel for nothing.

Hello to all. I wish I would have done my due diligence before booking with this outfitter. As is the case I booked a pig hunt for a group of friends, my father-in-law and myself for mid March before I came across this thread. We are going to go ahead with the hunt but you can be certain that I will be posting a hunt report on this forum and others when we get done. Last year we booked with an outfit called Northern Skys out of Jacksboro. All in all it was a good time but the advertisement was a little misleading. We had paid $300 for the hunt for which we thought included 3 pigs per person, one trophy and two meat. When we got there we were made aware that on top of the $300 for the hunt we were to pay an additional $45 per pig "guide fee" which was not part of the tip that was also expected. We had a blast and our guides did an outstanding job but after the fact my father sent me some regulations that were pretty explicit on trapping and turning out sows. I am not sure if this Northern Sky was violating the regulations but I didn't want to be caught up in the middle of it if they were/are. Anyway, hopefully Affordable Outfitters has turned a page and we have an enjoyable hunt but either way I will be sure to post.

Good Luck and Good Hunting.

wow, I wouldn't have taken down the BBB review. it might just save someone else from making a costly mistake with this crook. I would sue him for fraud and extortion. Even if he pays back all the money, the review should still stand.

Hopefully you haven't paid in full yet; there may still be time to switch outfitters.

I realize I'm a long way from Texas but I go on a few guided hunts a year, some big like muleys or antelope, some small like a 2 day duck hunt. Point is I would be pizzed. I would also never ever have tipped the guide and I look at the money lost as money lost and I never woulda taken down any reports on the outfitter if it's truly how I felt even if he offered to refund part of the money I paid him. I'm constantly looking for decent whitetail hunts for me and my sons. These types of morons just make me mad and make it more difficult to trust an outfitter ot guide when I'm booking a hunt not to mention more work to research them so I wont get screwed

Sab-yup, that's my name

I had a similar experience a few years ago on a NM elk hunt. It was a joke - Guide had no clue. My son and I left early and met the outfitter for breakfast and told him how bad it all was and I wanted a refund. He refused. So when I got home I posted a review on a popular outfitter review website. He called me the next day and offered my money back if I removed the review. Told him I would not remove it but would post that he had refunded my money. So if anyone runs into these situations and the outfitter refuses to step up then let them know you will be posting your experience all over the web. Pretty strong leverage.

That is good to know. I had a similiar experience taking my daughter on a hunt with them around Comanche about 3 years ago. Just marked it down to another dayhunt experience and moved on but never took time to complain or ever tried to book with them again. Figured once burned, etc.... I see them post on here a lot so glad to see they stepped up.

Add: gotta say, Rick and Band of Brothers take these comments seriously. After the above, he contacted me to see how to make sure I was satisfied even after that long ago. In hindsight, my comment probably wasn't fair to make after so much time had passed but it is good to see a company that is serious about their customers. I will give them another look if the opportunity comes again.
