We think the buck is 8.5 years old and we only get a glimpse of him around December. I have only seen him at about 2 years old I think, 6 years old really far and last Saturday. Going to shoulder mount him. Cannot wait to get him on the wall. Went for the high shoulder shot and he dropped in his tracks. When we took him in to get caped they found another bullet in him from a couple of years ago encapsulated in scar tissue. We are high fenced so someone poached on our property and hit him in the shoulder but for some reason bullet didn't penetrate very far. Maybe a really far shot but made us nervous about pouchers.

Didn't even have to see where you said it was to know good ole STX. Have hunted down there 35+ years and very familiar with the tall tower blinds and long senderos. Awesome buck, congrats.

I wouldn't discount that he was shot outside of the high fence and either hopped it or found his way under it somewhere..May have been previously shot inside your place, possible he was not though.

Great buck. Congratulations. Duval county seems to have a long history of poaching problems.

Yes sir, The Muy Grande Deer contest in Freer helped to put a lot of attention on South Texas quality deer and Duval county as well in addition to other surrounding counties. The poaching increased exponentially in the late 70s and onward.
