Does a flatter shooting sub .30 caliber exist?

Maybe the 7mm stw?

Define what you mean by flatter shooting. My 22 creed runs a similar BC in a 75 grain bullet that you would run in a 257 at 115 grains but runs it 400 fps faster, so I would say yep all day. the 25 calibers don't have the BC to be a "flat" cartridge at distance.

It does depend on the range you consider practical, doesn't it?

Depends on lot of factors. I killed a deer last weekend at 455yards with that 22 creed, that a max smoked her like a time bomb.

Nothing besides My drop at that distance is 1.3 mils or 21.3 inches. With the 115 WBY advertises as their highest BC on their website the drop would have been 1.8 mils or 29 inches so I would assume that made the 22 creed "flatter shooting" since it has 7 inches less of rise at that distance??

You praise the bullets terminal ballistics when the subject is external ballistics. Two different subjects. Entirely.

So explain to me how .5 difference in drop at a given distance is not a flatter shooting cartridge?

Explain to me how this is relevant to a discussion of external ballistics.

My apologies I was carrying on 2 conversations at once. I had picked a known distance that was per your previous comment was "practical" because I had real world data at that distance and target. Then went to comparing the drop that both rifles would have had at a distance where one of the rifles had known performance tested. Then was able to actually compare the data of the 2 rifles at that distance. Now tell me why .5 less mils is not flatter shooting?

Again, your comment:

Are you daft?? This comment has NOTHING at all to do with trajectory and everything to do with terminal ballistics. "Trajectory" means exterior ballistics, i.e. what people mean when they are talking about "flat shooting."

I think maybe you should talk a little less and listen a little more.

26 Nosler and 7mmRUM are 2 that are flatter shooting.

The 7 STW will do it with higher BC bullets. The 7 RUM will be similar.

26 Nosler. Same thing.

The Lazeroni's, maybe.

Then there's a whole list of wildcats, but I assume you're only talking about standardized rounds.

The 257 WM is hard to beat at reasonable distances. It's the long range stuff that gets it due to poor ballistic coefficients. I would own one if I didn't already have a 25-06. There's just something about it. It was Roy's favorite for a reason, I suppose.

You want to see flat? Check out the Allen magnums. That's some serious horsepower.

Tx I think with all of the "custom guys" on here you need to add to the question;

Does anything shoot flatter the a guy can buy a rifle and ammunition over the counter?

A .22 creed may be flatter but it doesn't hit as hard so it's a moot point

A .257 wby with a 200 yard zero is approx. 5" low at 300 and 12" or so low at 400 with a 110 grain load. That's pretty dang flat

I could care less about what bullet does what at 800 yards out of a wildcat cartridge. I'm talking about hunting rounds that are flat shooting and carry the punch to knock it down

The .22 creed sounds fabulous and all but not different than the .224 TTH which has been around forever and is just a rebranded .22-6mm that was called the .22 coyote before Horace gore got ahold of it
