Wigeon are pretty tough to catch. They know they aren't as powerful a flyer as a mallard or as talented in the air as a pintail, so they make up for it by being cagey. They have a knack for getting off the water when the falcon is perfectly out of position so it can't catch the ducks or waiting for another duck to get caught before flushing. Not today though. This pretty drake made a few wrong moves that landed him in Quapa's talons. It wasn't in spectacular style, but there's so many ways for this sport to go wrong that I'll savor any success.

Glad y'all like the photo. I'll keep trying to take video and decent photos here and there. Regarding the gopro idea, that particular camera is too big, but they do make backpack cams for raptors. I have a friend who has one who shot a video in Denton of his peregrine catching a gadwall. You can search it on YouTube. Personally, I don't like the footage from the bird's point of view as it goes too fast and I can't see much. Check it out though.
