Well I'm sure most of you have saw my "Multicam Job" LOL well didn't turn out the way I wanted and didn't want to do it again. I wanted it to be a 2 tone color scheme but didn't want the light khaki color. When I was layering doing the multicam job at one point I had my gun completely camo brown and really liked it. Reminded me of the patriot brown Cerakote. So stripped everything down and got to painting. I actually really like the color offset with the black furniture on the gun. Also got my new SWFA SS 1-4x in Larue SPR-E mount very stoked to go shoot that. Before: After:

Love that color, looks sweet. What kind of paint did you use? How did you prep the surface?
Thanks

I just used the rustoleum camo brown color. Prep wasn't much just got it down to the regular anodized finish but still had some residue on it that wouldn't come off. Let it dry really good and then use break cleaner to degrease and don't touch it again with your bare hands wear latex gloves without powder. Just tape off the stuff that doesn't need to be painted and plug the barrel with a foam ear plug.

If you're talking about the multicam it was rustoleum and krylon.

How durable is that sort of finish? In my experience doing a couple rifles exactly the same way, it's relatively durable. If you scrape it hard on something, it will scrape the paint off, but every day normal use, it's not going anywhere.
The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference. -George Washington

How durable is that sort of finish? Lol no clue, probably not super durable, but I like the worn look anyway so when it wears away it will wear back to black so it will be subtle.

I was thinking of something similar on my AR. Thought about Cerakote, but as it fades off in places, touch up would be difficult. I figured spray paint wouldn't be as durable, but much easier to touch up.
