I hope so. My neighbors have some bucks over 300". Sure would like to see some escape over to our side.

Ha! And this: "I have seen more hung half way up the fence than I have seen make it over." Is literally one of the silliest things I've ever read. Think about that statement for just a minute.

Who has sold a cow/bull because it was a fence jumper? Not all of them do but some do.
Sat one of our stands on a cross fence a while back, 5 strand barbed wire, pretty short and very easy to jump for a deer. I had a group of 6 deer come out... 5 crawled under and 1 jumped it.

I don't have any 8' fence but I do 7' and most a little over 6' They jump those easily if they want. Even large Axis Bucks can handle a 6' fence without a problem. If they do jump in and stay awhile then they are reluctant to jump out. They probably realize it is safer here than in the outside world.

I have never witnessed it, but I'm certain it is physically possible.
Do they have a problem with depth perception? One of my neighbors low fenced a few feet inside a low fence and claims it's works on his exotics.

They can but 99% of them won't, even if they reeeaaaallllyyyy want what's on the other side. If they could and did, people wouldn't trust them with the amount of money they have invested behind them. I have told the story before, but had a family member that lives in the panhandle. She had a 10 acre HF Apple orchard and almost every morning, she had to go out and open the gates to let the deer out. Typically 4-6 doe. They would jump in but not out Doesn't that disprove your point about them not jumping over a HF if they really want what is on the other side? The deer in the apple orchard are the one percenters.

FWIW I was going fishing at OH Ivie one morning and on the road into Padgitt Park there's a high fence on the left. Saw a doe jump it going into the HF ranch. Not sure, but I assume she also jumped out at sometime.

I'm reminded of what I've read about horses. The world record jump with a rider is 7'3", but most horses will walk a half mile to avoid having to jump 18 inches.

I think their fence is more like 9 feet tall though. I swear, it's the tallest fence I've seen. And has an extra top strand of barb wire, to boot.

Yes they can. I saw 4 mature doe jump an 8' HF, they jumped it one after the other on the run. All 4 of them hit the ground running.

His day was ruined LIFE ruined...... I had a 4 pt hang his back leg in the top square of an 8ft fence once. He had ALMOST cleared it, but it twisted around his back foot and hung him.
