Have had some decent hunts on my lease this season, not as good as other seasons, but numbers are improving here lately. Got 2 main holes I hunt, holding about 50 ducks on each. Last 2 hunts (Sunday and today), very surgical, literally shot first 6 ducks possible, each hunt triple first volley, double and a single to finish. Few minutes I'm done, I'm picking up deeks and casting Molly at the same time to get the dead ducks, packed up and out of hole in minutes, then watch the other 40 ducks land in hole all morning, take pics, hole completely undisturbed..

And Mohunter (aka Mark from the trolls, legendary public waterfowler from others..), I do need deeks to get them close or they will land in the middle out of range, so these private holes do take a little skill..

Pics today, after the hunt..

I was late on this pic, had I been faster, would have got a pic of green head making babies...

Spent a few minutes this morning pulling the trigger, 4 hrs or so watching ducks do what they do. Scouted public this after noon for fun, no plans to fight that ice on public tomorrow.

Hole in ice with jerk cord should be deadly in the morning. up

I would have felt guilty shooting that hen after watching her getting plucked yesterday. In and out fast again this morning...

Thought the ice was going to be a lot worse, thought it would all be frozen over solid..

Few more pics after the hunt...

Very nice, my throttle cable and trim switch was froze up on me this morning, got to put some antifreeze in the cable as soon as it thaws today. Do not want to deal with that crap over the next three days on my trip.

That has happen to me a few times on my momarsh, had to pull the throttle directly on the motor to get back to ramp, is that what you did? Good thing that trim did not freeze while it was up! eek2

No, did not hunt today, still have this training going on, just checked everything this morning since it was so cold. I never had a problem last year but guess some moisture got into it. My trim unit is froze up but usually thaws when it hits the water, I always leave it trimmed down for that reason. Wish I had a Mercury trim instead of this old Thompson, its on my "to do" list for the off season.

Last 6 days, 4 hunts, 4 limits of gaddies. Think I'll let the lease rest a bit, hit public now..

Ringers moved on. That's what they normally do on my place, they swarm the place for a week or so, then move on, thank goodness. I just got done with a death march public walkin scout trip, I'm plum worn out.
