eeks333 Just found out I can hunt until the 18th! Had no idea until I heard shooting this morning, looked onlune and sure enough. I guess its new for Wise county confused2

Anyhow, I have been letting my neighbor have at it for a buck, but we have several spikes and a cripple doe that he hasn't shot, I don't think she will make it in this cold as she is getting weaker and would really like to put her down.

Has this season been around long? Not typically a doe hunter, so may have just missed it all together.

Thanks fellas, I thought I was getting my leg pulled, but it is right there on the website, but doesn't give any specifications. At 1st I thought they meant it was a "late youth season: thing.

Kmon, it could have been here too, IDK. usually take a buck and done since 15 acres doesn't allow much harvest.

4Weight, you got that right!!

I had 4 spikes the 1st 7-10 days of season while I was after a buck, probably wont see a single one now LOL

My neighbor had the cripple on opening morning and decided to pass, as far as I know, he hasn't seen her since. I have several time without a firearm in hand.

This may be the first season for Wise county, I don't know. It sounds like it was made for your area, Dennis. We have very few spikes/ doe so we won't hunt. My advice to you is , "let 'er rip".

Yep all you will see is bucks... Last year I went out 2 times to get a doe or spike and all I saw were young bucks and a couple of the big boys that we only saw on camera!!.. Go figure... It's like they know!

Yeah, I'm betting it is new, since my neighbor didn't know either. We don't take does since we have minimal land and few deer. Together we only control 31 acres, so...

I wish one of our neighbors had your hunter ethics. He has 12 acres and 3 hunters.

eeks333 Sounds like you live down the street! Have some just like that about 1/4 mile. My neighbor is fairly new to hunting, so that helps.

Wise county has had a late antlerless & spike season since the 2009 ~ 2010 hunting season, it was implemented along with the antler restrictions.

Be sure to shoot the right buck, a spike is defined as no antler having more than one point.
During late antlerless & spike you can not kill a branched antlered buck legally.

That's a great point about the spike definition. I originally thought it would be like the way it works in regular season for antler-restriction, where you could take a buck with "at least 1 unbranched antler" and that would be considered a spike. But that's not the case. I double checked TPWD site and it's just as Rustler defined it. Thanks Rustler!
