My .02 :
Few years back flew home for a pheasant hunt with the cousins. Got to baggage and my case (a plano) was cracked wide open and had damn tire tracks on it. Either it fell off the cart and got run over or some a-hole ran it over on purpose. Probably the former, but still
luckily it was just my Mossberg 500, not something valuable.
The walnut butt stock was completely cracked in half and in a pinch I had to use a roll of duct tape and splint it into a (wobbly by workable) shooting condition. After that I invested in a Pelican 1750 case and multiple cut-out foam inserts so I can pick and choose what firearm to store in it. Its big, its heavy, it was expensive....but it is durable.
Don't risk a benelli in its issued case.
