Let me just say that I meant to post this a long time ago but I just ended up not doing it. This is a deer that I shot on Thanksgiving morning in Howard County. I had been looking for a different buck the whole season but had only had one evening series of pictures of him. That particular deer was seen that one night and I have never seen it since. The deer I ended up shooting showed up Thanksgiving Eve for a brief second but never gave me a shot. I was driving into the area and saw a buck and a doe frozen off in the distance staring at me. I stopped and looked at them through the binocs and realized it was a smaller 10 that I had been seeing with this doe. He kept looking behind him which got me excited but I was frustrated because I couldnt see who was over there. I have learned over the years that if a deer is looking in a general direction, there is always something there! So finally after staring with anticipation for a couple of minutes they bolted and what appeared to be this buck popped out of the brush right behind them. Never got a shot, tried to follow them and they were just gone. The next morning I sat in the blind I have not 200 yards from where I saw that buck the evening before. I had been watching the canyon fill up with light and watch the owls fly around from tree to tree. Hell one of them took a dive bomb at me while I was sitting on the tripod! Let me just say that its a pretty intense situation as you can barely see and something is flying and trying to check you out for breakfast! Anyway, the feeder eventually goes off and this deer pops out from the canyon that feeds in there. He walked right into the feeder and down he went! What is so interesting is that he looked like he had done that 100 times and I had no pictures of him at all. Either way, I am very excited of this years harvest and cant wait until what next year brings. Also, I just wanted to say that I love all the encouragement that I see on this website. I know that every county and every piece of land holds different types of trophies and I love seeing all the positive feedback! Everyones trophy is their own and it has been so much fun to lay in bed almost every night and look at all the posts from you guys. My wife hates it but she does love seeing the pictures and hearing a good story. I am not as religious as I probably should be but enjoy the time outdoors. Enjoy what has been created and teach someone else to enjoy it. Take a family member, friend or neighbor. My daughter just turned 4 and it was hard not to buy a pink red ryder for christmas! I need just a little more time and I can start calling her "little dead eye!" Lets get to scouting and work on giving our deer something to eat this summer!

Dang nice deer.
BTW, when a new Grandson or Granddaughter is born, I buy them a Red Ryder and BB's.
