Last trail cam pics (12/29/14 - 01/04/15) showed multiple bucks fighting and very rutted up ground as I've never seen before. Seen 3 bucks (young bucks never seen before) with a broken tine on each and a "regular to the area" 12 point now with 3 broken tines. Any thoughts on the late season fighting? 2nd rut? Competetion for food? Just recently removed a spin feeder because of ZERO daylight activity and I'm now hand throwing a 50lb bag of corn once a week to a new area with unbelievable results (724 pictures in 6 days). This is 700 acres of thick East Texas woods with low to moderate pressure. The daytime activity and overall numbers of deer with the hand spread corn are a complete 180 from the previous 4 years of hunting.

I have seen a lot of sparing around my feeders and food plots with the bucks starting to group back up after the rut. Cold weather and rain last week had them really move around me last week on corn/protein also.

I've found hand thrown corn out producing my feeder for activity as well.

This year has been odd as there has not been much fighting. Plenty of bowing up but not much actually horn on horn fights. The weather has been cold, hot, cold, and hot. I am sure this is throwing them off.

Look at the scars on this big brute and the holes in the neck of the younger one. All in December in central texas.

Those boys are banged up for sure. Guess these East Texas bucks arent too bad off other than a half dozen with broken tines.

I've read guys on here stringing a feeder up high in a tree so it doesnt spook the deer and it has me curious. How quiet would a feeder be if you cut the tabs off the spinner plate and wrapped the plate with a electrical tape? Would the corn just keep falling from the feeder without the tabs?
