Went home for the holiday. PA (recently medically retired Marine)
And got to sneak out 1 day for a pheasant and chucker hunt. Great day with a old friend. 1 rooster is missing. He took a bad headshot figured id leave him out of the photo. Really sunk in how much i love upland game hunting. Wish there was more available around here.

Successful hunt! I grew up in PA- beautiful country with mountains and hillsides. What county were you hunting in?

Actually there not pen raised, our WMA there allows 1 rooster and 1 hen. I hunted on our farm outside of Lewistown, PA 20 mins north of state college. About 10 years ago we had a massive chukar shoot and about 150 of them escaped our barrels. So our farm now has wild chukar.

I got this from a friend in Ohio.

"I hunted for Grouse in PA last week for two days and heard one Grouse flush wild. And that was it. Just an armed nature walk up north anymore these days.

Happy belated New Years by the way."

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Depends where you hunt at and grouse are hard to find. If he was in Central PA he should have looked at Huntington PA state game lands. They released nearly 150k pheasants there this year. 110k i think my the state and the other 40k by pheasant unlimited. They have a healthy population of grouse in that area.

Wild pheasants in PA are hard to come by and virtually disappeared from the state. Now most hunting is done with released game farm birds into state lands. PA game commission has a couple of special conservation units that are off limits to hunting right now, but might have huntable populations in the future....

So your farms is certainly an oasis and a great place to hunt.

I also grew up in PA. Mostly hunted deer and turkey then.. Used to watch grouse walk around and drum while in my tree stand.just depends where you are..some areas don't have any but other areas have a good population. We had one fly through our camp window once haha. The pheasant stocking program is really good and makes for some nice hunts.
