I'm wanting to buy a new rifle and would love some feedback. I want made in USA, wood stock, and I'm willing to spend as much as $1,000 if needed. I want a good quality gun that I can enjoy forever and pass down one day. I'm not going to mention the caliber because I don't want to stir the hornets nest.

Look at the Montana Rifle Co's open pre set features production line of American Standard Rifles "ASR's" that in blue/wood run were about $1100 last year, with no add on's.

MRC started in Kalispel MT as a custom gunsmith resource for receivers, & barreled actions to full blown 5 figure customs.

These are built on the proven & improved Montana 1999 pre 64 M70 styled recievers and started with 22 caliber choices couple years ago...but the last caliber list I saw on the website was much larger than that in November '14.

FWIW there is a pic of a SS/Syn ASR in the 260 thread right now, that uses a B&C Medallion stock, and is about $200 over the wood/blue, & also comes in a wood/SS at about a $100 over the wood/blue guns.

Current BACO Winchester M70's parts are still made in FN South Carolina, but I understood them to have had the assembly moved the BACO FN plant in Portugal....or mebbe gonna do that later this year.
If Made in USA was important to me I'd buy a MRC pre 64 type made in Kalispel, MT.
