I know we have gained a few experienced shotgunners. I been looking at different ones for a while. Still not sure which to get. Leaning towards the beretta a300 or a400. Also have considered the cz712 or winchester sx3. Picked up a remington 11-87 fit was nice but the reviews of the later models are not so great. This will be primarily for upland hunting, light skeet use, and maybe a waterfowl hunt. What is yalls opinion trying to stay under $800. Not afraid of used ones either if thatn opens up to a few different models. And what finish would you go with? I also liked the browning silver but I read moisture causes the finish problems. Not that is a huge concern here. Thanks

Waterfowl hunting is hard on any shotgun. Go with a synthetic stock regardless of what brand you get.
Sooner or later that shotgun is going to end up in the water if you go waterfowl hunting long enough. Something will happen and in she goes. Keep that in mind.

I am in the market for a new 2 gauge semiauto as well. Leaning toward the Benelli, in synthetic. Gonna watch this post.

I would highly recommend benelli but not sure if you can get a semi for under $800.

I personally have a couple Beretta 390's that I really like. Before I bought one I went to Academy and handled every shotgun they had. Some of them felt terrible in my hands, but the Beretta and the Browning Silver Hunter felt the best. I ended up with the Beretta, but I really like the Silver Hunter as well.
Keep in mind that gas operated shotguns should recoil less than inertia or recoil operated guns. There is a decent amount of weight variance between some of them as well.
All that to say, I would go and hold/shoulder all of them, you will quickly be able to narrow down your favorites.

I would highly recommend benelli but not sure if you can get a semi for under $800. Franchi Affinity, Beretta A300, Yildiz, Stoeger M3500, Rem. 11-87, Weatherby SA-08, Mossberg 935, Browning Silver Hunter...all are around or under $800.
