No experience with 260 AI, but I hunt with several fellas that swear by 280 AI.

I wonder if the AI version will get that 120 gr bullet up to 3000 fps. I have a 260 and I'm very happy with it.

Should get there in a 24 inch barrel without a problem with the AI. The standard 260 will get there with max loads and some powders. With the AI cartridges figure on about a 10 to 4 ratio for increased velocity. For 10% increase in powder charge expect a 4% increase in velocity. That is if you keep pressures the same.

It oughta be a hoss! And stick with the 140's like I mentioned a day or two ago. Speed doesn't mean chit if it doesn't have the BC to go with it.

Gotta fire form all that brass first though. Holler at me when the brass is ready. We can stretch its' legs one day if you want to drive up again.

I think I might try the "cream of wheat" fire forming. Have 200 pieces of lapua brass ordered that should be here wednesday. Gun should be done in about 2 weeks. Will give me something to do loading all that up next weekend.

Ordered a box of the 140g hornady a-max's. Would like to try the berger VLD hunting bullets too but can't find any right now.

If you think you'll like the A-maxes get all you can afford. They have been disappearing quickly.

I run a 7mm-08 Ackley and form brass with pistol/shotgun powder. A few grains with no bullet and the bullet pointed straight up gets a 90% formed case.
