Finally got my first deer last Sunday! Meant to post it sooner but been really busy. Anyhow, a few months back I posted a topic on needing help getting this nice ten point on my property. Needless to say he has evaded me ever since. But after reading everyone's comments ya'll helped me to realize that it's not necessarily about the trophy as much as it is about the hunt. Don't get me wrong, I still really want that buck, but i'm damn sure proud of this one! I shot this guy on a trail leading to the feeder with about 15 minutes left of legal shooting light. He walked in front of me broadside at about 40 yards and I dropped him with a open sighted 30-06. He reared up and stumbled about 20 yards before he came to rest. I was shaking so damn bad after he dropped I could hardly climb down the damn tree stand. I'm definitely hooked now! Anyhow, now that the rut is over and they are coming back to the feeders, tomorrow will be my last chance to get that big one. He showed back up on camera last week, so maybe he will show himself. If not, oh well......there's always next year! So with that all being said, thanks to everyone for all your advice and good hunting!
