Nothing to write home about, but he was the only buck that showed up during legal shooting light. I hunted hard this year, so I'm happy to come home with something.





After we found him I noticed a pretty significant injury to his belly. I didn't get a picture, but he also has a medium sized puncture wound under his front leg. I'm wondering if these are wounds from fighting during the rut, or injury from jumping a fence.

This buck and a doe feel to my Ruger American chambered in .243 with Hornady Whitetail Revolution ammo.

That's a wild cut on the belly....almost looks like a knife made it, but I know that's not the case from your story. have no idea how he got it except that whatever caused it was something that was sharp and made a "clean" cut.

I forgot to say in my original post that this wound has occurred since the second week in November.

Probably happened when jumping a Barb wired fence.

Could it be a low arrow shot injury, where the deer jumped after hearing the bow twang when being shot at?
