Will 2 year old meat still be good if it was vaccum packed? Anything I need to be looking for to know if it's good or not?

As long as it's never thawed out completely, been exposed to air, and shows no freezer burn, you should be good to go.

Another question. A friend gave some meat yesterday. There has been some slight thawing on a few packages. Do I need to thaw it completely and cook soon, or is ok to put in the freezer?

Scratch and sniff if you refreeze it. If your hungry, I'd eat it now. If not, then I would definitely smell it before you eat it, if refrozen.

if its vacuum sealed it will be pretty good most of the time for a couple years
slightly thawed should still be ok to refreeze if it was still partially frozen

Light thawing usually not a problem to refreeze it. Or if you do not want to eat it now cook it and refreeze in meal sized portions.

Meat that's been in the freezer a long time like that is good to use for jerky.

Usually a good vacuum pack will give you 3 years in the deep freeze.
