I am not sure where I saw it but there is someone that makes a sleeve that goes inside made from alum instead of a straw.

I haven't tried the second placement yet

Walter you probably saw it on the Hide.

I turned an insert on the lathe out of brass to the same specs. It made the Chargemaster that used to throw every other, or every thord charge over to throw 50 charges with maybe 3 overcharge.

Daniel, when you empty the powder in it when you are finished powder, I would think, will get hung up due to the lip the straw creates.

My lathe is all manual and old. Therefore I'm pretty slow getting it done. Didn't figure anyone would want to pay for the time it takes me.

never had a issue with powder getting hung up. I double check mine before I always start with a new powder and never had any left overs from the other powder

I will try to do that today. I've got some work to do in the shop. After getting the wood burning stove going that is.

You guys might look at using some brass tubing such as this:

http://www.hobbyexpress.com/brass_tubing_422_ctg.htm

It can be found at most RC Airplane shop.

That's the one Dave.

I used solid stock brass, and measured my auger tube at .310" and turned my insert down to .308". I also bored the center out at .250". Wrap the insert with scotch tape and thread it into the auger.

Whole thing is .800" long.

Works perfectly.

Yeah that is the one I saw too. Idk if its cheaper to just buy a few from him or order a lathe so I can make stuff myself...

I'll try to carve out some time and make a few. I enjoy running the lathe and mill simce I don't do either very often, as compared to everything else in the shop.

If you do it I will take two. Would be a lot easier to get them from you than from that other guy on the hide. Just let me know what you want for them and whenever you have time is fine.

Got an idea for making them that would be easier than milling from a brass rod. Will get the stuff together in the next few days and see if it works.

So Jason at .308 OD .25 ID and .8 long works good?

made this using the tube off of a trickler. i cut used a section of the tube without the inside threads and it came with a extension that i cut off and used on the end. the case prep came in handy to smooth thins out. will try it in am

Yes, those are the measurements. One important detail is to leave a step where the powder is entering the insert. So once the center is bored, and O.D. is turned down do not bevel between center to outside, leave it a 90 degree angle between the two.
