I'm thinking about picking up another .22 semi auto for plinking, etc. I'm kicking around getting one of the modern rifle style units, but am afraid of poor quality, lousy triggers, etc. Are any of these rifles worth owning?

M&P 22 or a JP upper.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Not true to ar form but the Sig 522 has been stellar for me. Accurate, never jams, ever with any ammo, great trigger, great ergonomics and it uses AR pattern mags.

Stay away from the Mossberg 715. I was given one by the boss lady as a gift. It jams about every 15 rounds. I have about 400 rounds through mine and still having problems. I have done everything to it except cut or grind the extractor arm (that a few guys online suggest)

That's odd. My grandson has run at least 1000 rounds through his and it has never even hiccuped.

Then you got a good one.

I have a good friend that had one and I personally witnessed the same jamming issues. We tried every type of .22 LR ammo we both had (6 or 7 different types including Auto Match and Tenex) and different mags. Cleaned and lubed, didn't matter. Every time it was the same, shoot 3, jam. shoot 9, jam. shoot 12, jam.

That thing was junk.

He went and got an M&P 15 22. It's been issue free since round 1.

I had an m&p15-22. It functions flawlessly and had a nice trigger on it In my opinion. I think it is nearly all polymer though and I was kind of worried about how long it'd hold up.
