Has anybody been on the fence about taking a buck and passed, then ended up getting the buck the next year??? I'm talking low fence where you were worried the neighbors might get them. Pics would be great, I'm looking to inspire some guys I hunt with to wait for a big boy.
Why is it that every time I push #1 for english, I cannot understand the person on the other end???

Is that 3.5, 4.5, then 5.5 or plus/minus one year? What a pot belly on that guy this year, looks like he's been drinking too much PBR

I don't have any before photos, but I passed this buck for 2 years and shot it the 3rd. I'm on a small (54 acres) place and my heart sank every time I let it go and watched it jump over the fence..If you can convence them to wait a year or two, the results will be dramatic.
Cabin rental in Pagosa Springs, Co. Sleeps 10, If interested please PM me.

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

I passed this buck in 2011 the first time I saw him ( deer cam pics only) because of broken bow tine. I took him the next year the 2nd time I saw him. He was not as wide when I took him.

Ill get some pics later but the 173" 18pt I shot this year was a 160" or so 15pt last year, and 145+ 14 pt the year before. And yes we are low fence. It can be done with some discipline and luck. I have a neighbor that shoots everything 130"+ so I'm glad he didn't head that way the past two years.

I got a bunch over the years that we let walk and killed at 4.5 or 5.5. Got a 4.5 yr old rule on the ranch. I would say that we get about 50-60% of the bucks to this age. A few are taken out of the herd that we consider culls, and a few are shot across the fence. Have gotten a few to 5.5 but not many.

Saw him Last year running does, let him walk: Went back to same stand as last year, and killed him in November during the rut.

sometimes they go the other way. this deer was five in the first picture and we estimate he was 190 inches plus. We waited a year and then took him and he scored 184 inches - Next is a video (click on link) of a deer last year that was well over 200 inches at five years old - we waited a year and took him this year and he scored 196. Hell of a buck buck lost some from age 5 to 6.

In 2008 I was after a nice 10 point in the Oklahoma Panhandle . A pretty good 8 kept popping up and tempting me. I had the crosshairs on him two different days but couldn't shoot. Wound up getting the 10 on the 4th day of hard hunting. I killed that 8 that turned into a huge 8 in 2009 on opening morning in Oklahoma. He is by far the most impressive deer in the house, scored 154 and change. The 10 in 2008 was 159 and has a huge unique R-G1. 2008 2009
