So I'm tired of replacing the batteries in my Stealthcam. It eats batteries. Does anyone have any experience with the cameras with a solar charger? I saw a Moutrie that had a compatible solar charger. I've not been pleased with the Stealth.

I use solar panels with rechargeable batteries on all 4 of mine.
1. Match voltage with camera and/or external battery requirements
2. Protect wiring with conduit (coons, mice love to eat wiring)

Here's my second attempt. This one is running strong with power to spare. I'll be adding a big deep cycle battery on the charge circuit to power the new 12v winch for the feeder. There's also a hog kill light on the bottom of the feeder that will get it's power from solar as well. I'll probably trench over to the feeder and bury some pipe to run the wires. There's four 12v 9ah UPS batteries in the fat fifty ammo box to power the Covert 3G in the hard to see bear box on the opposite side of the pole.

I use the wildgame innovations battery box with 2 six volt batteries and hook up a solar charger to it. Have many that have been going for three year. I also use the moultrie battery/solar package with great results. Key is to keep coons under control with traps and night hunts.

I was very careful to protect my wiring from the cows. Didn't think mice. I'm working on new feeder now. I'll go with more protection on this one. I advise always going 12 v solar. Offers twice the power of 6 v solar but costs about the same. I use Covert's 6 v down converter cable for the cameras. One solar pole can handle the whole site. Power for Warn Winch to winch up feeder, power for cameras, power for hog lights. Just depends on how much wiring you want to bury.

I would not use a 12 volt solar for a 6 volt battery, they can over charge it and lower the life of the battery. The 6 volt solar chargers do very well at keeping 6 volt batteries charged. Like I stated above, 98% of my game cameras use external battery packs that have solar chargers on them. I have many that have been going 3 or 4 years with no problems. Make sure to keep them in good sunny spot.

I hear that you can charge a 6v battery with a 12v solar panel but you need a charge rate controller to do that. I just use 12v batteries and convert to 6v for cameras. My panels all have controllers.
