Paint on both these guns was done by Dusold Designs in Lewisville. I can dig up his contact info if you want or google him, great guy and not bad turnaround. He specializes in autos and motorcycles customs

I like the pebble finish, that has a business-like look about it.

Kind regards, charlesb

What did y'all use for the pebble finish? I was looking for something like that for my last rattle can job.

Here's my latest

I used some stone texture rattle cans by Rustoleum. I bought it on a clearance rack at Ace hardware.

Do you prep the stock in any way? Do you apply a varnish to seal it in?

I've got a new Creedmoor Savage that needs some dressing up.

I have done a couple of "webbed" stocks, it's pretty easy. The fleckstone should work the same.

Start by sanding the stock with some medium grit paper. This is a good chance to knock off the "ridge seams" on the spine. After sanding wipe down with acetone, MEK, or even rubbing alcohol to get rid of oils. If they have the fleckstone in the "adheres to plastic" version get that. I usually do 4 or 5 coats of the paint. When it looks like you want it to spray with 5n or 6 coats of matte clear (available at Lowes or Home Depot) It is actually a very durable finish

I am assuming since you have picked your stock you are wanting barrels action colors correct?

Yup, just to add a word of caution. You want to apply thin coats. Its better to spray 5 thin coats than 2 heavy coats. Thick coats never dry right, and are prone to chipping and delaminating.

Made this stock from a blank of Pakkawood then gave it the automotive treatment. Clearcoated, sanded and polished to a glass like finish. My other hobby is restoring Corvettes, so refinishing this seemed to fit right in.

Picked up a beat up synthetic A-bolt 25-06 a while back. Had all the metal cerakoted over at Wylie Custon Gun Coatings, did the stock myself. Turned out pretty good I think.
