i have a question for you guys!if you get a barrel threaded for a muzzle break will the gunsmith have to recrown the barrel. it is a heavy varmit profile barrel 300 win mag with the recessed target crown 5/8x24 thanks

It depends upon the dimensions of the recessed crown. If re-crowning is indicated, you won't lose much barrel in the process, just enough to clean it up with the new crown.

I'd leave whether it is necessary or not up to the gunsmith. He knows what he's doing, that's why he is the gunsmith.

I'm with Charles on this.

He could leave your crown alone. But while he has taken the time to center the barrel in the lathe jaws he might as well recrown it while he's there. It only takes another five minutes. If he's good your crown will be improved from what it was from the factory. A good smith will center the bore to within .0005". The factory does not get that perfect.
