Please do not comment in this thread unless you actually own the device. No speculation only first hand account please. If you want to troll please visit the fishing forum.

So i'm about to head out on another hunting trip on Jan 9-12 I plan on putting it through its paces on deer and hog. The last trip I managed to get some great video at about 45 yards and 100 yards. I'm very excited about the potential with this scope. after this hunt I plan on looking for a dedicated 308 AR for this scope to sit on top.

25- 45 yards

10 yards

50 yard sight in at range.

Tips and tricks ------ if anyone has any tips I will post them here.

1: I find it better to use the smartphone app to focus the device rather then the eye piece for some reason I can not get the thing focused when looking through the view finder perhaps i'm nearsighted
2:

Issues

1: Compass
2: speedometer
3: altitude
4: Wandering Cross Hairs
5: Flicker in night Mode
6: cross hairs in video record

Interesting on the firmware not being there, hope they put up the new stuff.

Other than issues already being identified in the X-Sight thread from Sachal, how are you doing on batteries? I tried 3 different types of rechargeables, no go. They don't last 15 minutes. I'm now running Energizer Lithium Ultimate's. Haven't checked to see how long they last, but much longer than the rechargeables.

I also have a problem where the menu items words/letters get messed up. I had the 'date and time' say just 'an'. Haven't seen that since.

I haven't shot a lot of video, but have noticed some video's that are out of focus on the 5x, but maybe the shooters perspective, setup. I noticed in your first video above, the deer is out of focus, but the grass behind the deer looks to be in focus.

yup it is difficult to focus on one object looking through the view finder at least for me.

I have been using cheap Rayovac I got them on holiday sale they last about 2 hours with wifi on.

I never had the issue with the text.

How to update your firmware:

If you have tried everything to playback your recorded files on a Windows PC and still cant get sound or smooth video, try converting the file:

5-18x Night video demonstration - Cloudy night / 92% humidity / 50 degrees light wind

Best settings that I have found thus far:

Resolution of camera system at 720p @ 60 FPS to reduce lag on viewfinder or screen squiggle when panning
Low light amplification
Energizer Advanced or Ultimate Lithium batteries
Wifi / GPS / Geotagging OFF

Thus far the best distance I can achieve with the 5-18x at night with a UNV20IR is 180 - 200 yards. After 200 yards the light falls off and it is too dark for me to take a safe shot with cows and other structure on property.

Got it.
Compass, speedometer, altitude adressed in this firmware update.
Recticle still wandering
Now up to 10x on the zoom

On the update if it gets stuck @ 100% ATN stated to try to power down with the hard button. If tht dowsnt work (in my case) pull the batteries and wait 30 seconds, pull sd card. power back up and it will update.

Now showing firmware v200 on mine.

Note: I don't think a rangefinder was ever part of the deal.

If the wandering reticle wasn't fixed on this go around, that is disappointing, let alone getting the reticle on the recording.

Yes it did reset mine back to factory on the cross hairs but the rest of my settings stayed the same..
If you wrote down or remembered your x/y values then just set them back to where they were at and its back to where you zeroed.

Mine still has a flicker in night mode, but a lot less often. It flickers every few seconds rather than constantly which is a big improvement but not there yet.

can you post a video I don't know if the fixes would be worth it as I have a hunt coming up in a week.

here is the old flicker for comparison

Just reset your x/y back to where they were at before the upgrade, you will be fine. If your that worried about it then wait until you get back to do the upgrade. I dont see an issue with using it either way.

NO RETICLE in the videos, just did it and no joy. same as before.

I updated, here is what I see

On first try, says 'battery too low to perform operation', I put in another set, same message.

Powered down again and then does the update, it stops at saying '100%', you cannot power down or do anything, must remove the batteries. Reformat the card, put back in an power up and let it finish the install.

It comes up with the compass at the top of the screen, that appears to be working. The GPS is able to turn on now, I will try the altitude to see if it works.

The flicker in night mode is still there, that sucks, one of the main issues that needed to be worked on first. (ATN, when are we going to see this fixed? Out of all issues, the highest priority in my book as well as getting the crosshairs to output to video)

Will try a video recording and see if the crosshairs are there, but think ATN said next month for that.
