I'm a total noob when it comes to rifles, and the wife just purchased my first rifle this past Christmas. I'm sitting here doing a test fit on the optics and was wondering if the ring is suppose to sit like this on the base. I'm talking about the left side of the ring where it mounts to the base. If you look at the pic you will see the right side of the base ">" mounts to the ring almost perfect, but the left side "<" looks like it needs to further up. Is this ok, or do I need a new rings?

oh yeah, the base screws are finger tight so I know it is the correct base. Base is warne and rings are accushot.

Will snug up when you tighten it.

Is the left side of your ring that snugs up against the rail upside down?

That was my first thought. But if it's like most, the nut won't come of the bolt so there's no way to flip it.

Those that the nut will not come off of it will often loosen enough for that piece to spin. Worth a try. I would not be happy with that little making contact with the bases

Looks like it is upside down to me too... loosen it and flip that bracket piece around and then tighten it back up.

Well I was able to flip it upside down and it was worse. Thinking maybe it's doesn't sit flush because its two different brands. Going to have to get the same brands ring and base.

You do not have to have the same brands. All my bases are EGW. They have Badger rings, Talley Tactical, and Burris rings on them. A pic rail is a pic rail as long as it was machined correctly.

Who's base, and who's rings?

Have you tried tightening it a bit? If that doesn't make them marry up I wouldn't roll with it.

I tried tightening it down, but it just gets tighter and doesn't correct itself as it gets tighter.....

You have no idea......

Here are pics of the boxes the parts were in. I noticed the rings were labeled pic/weaver. Thoughts???

If you look at the where the rings mount to the base in the pic below. It looks like the right side is shaped different. Thoughts???

Even though the weaver style rings will work in a pic rail I think they are a tad different than a pic ring. That last pic looks like the rings aren't milled right. I've never heard of accushot so I'm no help with that. Of course I'm no expert on bolt gun rings and mounts though just my .02.

Send those rings back and find a new brand.

with the clamp open as far as it will go, while setting on the base, with the bolt center of groove. does the ring set flat or rock front to back?

bolt in ring is possibly to large for groove in base.

groove either not wide enough or deep enough?
