I have a S&W m&p 15 in the 223 cal. I would like to put a threaded barrel and silencer on it. I've been looking at the ccmg brand but was wondering if anyone has had any luck with anything else. Thank you in advance for the help. It will be used for coyote hunting and pigs

I use a rainier select barrel in 5.56 10.5" and can make them touch at 50 yards with a red dot sight. I also have a CMMG MK3 CBR with the CMMG match barrel and it shoots lights out as well.

Do you have the rainier on a S&W ? And it's only 10.5 inches long? Everything I've read is telling me to put the ccmg 20 incher with a 1:8 twist on it. I'm oblivious to all of this so sorry if I ask too many dumb questions.

No it's a custom built SBR (short barreled rifle) which is a NFA item that is regulated by the ATF like suppressors.

I don't use mine for long range it is built for a different purpose. I wouldn't go 20" on one. Although the round is made for a 20-24" barrel the benefits don't outweigh the cons for me. Especially if you hang a suppressor off the end which will be an extra 6-8" so if you run a 20" barrel with it you're looking at 26-28" barrel that's just way to long for me maybe it works for you.

If it were me I'd go 16" barrel with suppressor. 16" will get you out to 500+ yards easy.

Rainier makes good stuff. I have one of their Select grade barrels on one of my AR's. You'd think I was shooting with a small power scope at 100M even though I'm using a non magnified Aimpoint Micro.

White Oak Armament is well known for their barrels too. My 6.8 WOA barrel shoots just under .3 moa at 100M with factory ammo.

The barrel on your M&P isn't threaded? If not, I would just pull the factory barrel and have it threaded.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

I feel like an idiot. My stock barrel is threaded. The muzzle break twists off for a suppressor. I didn't pay attention to it. Lesson learned there for sure. Thank you for all of the guidance.
