With only a few days left I always begin to wonder should I pass on a good buck if I see one the last few days in hopes that he makes it and grows for next year or go ahead and shoot him?... What's y'all's opinions..

My thoughts are this, if i passed him at the start of season, why would i shoot him at the end!?! He's gets the pass from me, and this late in the season, it is very likely that he'll make it.

Yes sir, went back and re-read your post, read it wrong. cheers

I'm pretty sure he'd still get the pass if it wasn't the deer i was looking for though.

Depends. If you already have meat in the freezer, and you are just shooting him because you havnt filled your buck tag yet, I'd probably pass. But my #1 rule is, if you like him, shoot him.

I still owe a needy family some meat. If it's legal, it will be taken this week.

If the freezer is already full and there is no one to take the harvest, why waste meat?

Not sure why you would shoot a buck you are not sure you will be happy with. Shoot a doe if you need some meat and that buck will most likely be much better next year.

I'd shoot a doe if I could and pass on an average buck or smaller if it where me.

I would not pass on a true shooter just because season is almost over and he might get bigger. If he's a shooter, shoot him. He may not make it, or he may not be on your property next year.
