A couple years ago, I started a "new" tradition at my ranch. I call it "The Jar". Anyone who kills a deer on the ranch must donate the brass from the kill shot to the "Jar" and fill out the date, deer specs (8 point, etc)and shooter.
Surprising how the data and the jar has filled up. You are in for some serious trash talk if you are not "In the Jar" by the first week in December.. violin

Man, I would get drummed off of the ranch. I haven't taken but 1 cull buck in the last several years. I am just waiting for the right buck to come along. I enjoy the hunt more than the harvest.

Born to hunt and fish.

DH1, that's a cool idea. We have a window ledge in the cabin that we line the brass up on. We also have a tally system in each stand for number of animals harvested in each location... Deer, hog, turkey, ect.

While I understand what you are doing and think it is great for your place. You like it so that is all that matters. But for me I would not want any place I am hunting to have the hunting become a competition. For me it is more about the actual hunt and not so much about the kill or the size of it or how many these days. I shoot what I like, when I want to.

Ranchman, you need to understand that we kill does as well as bucks...as a matter of fact, I INSIST on it. It keeps my herd balanced and a shot on a doe counts for the "Jar". elmer

Little white powdered donuts and Little Debbies. Well, those are my traditions anyway.
