As the title says, I need help selecting a new semiautomatic shotgun. I know this topic has been brought up many time and I have searched and read lots of reviews, I was just making sure I'm not missing anything.

This gun will be for ducks and doves primarily. I would like it to shoot 3.5 inch shells. It seems that the leaders for me is the A5 and Maxus but I am open to any and all quality brands. All of these shotguns are right on the outer price range for me so I am not looking to spend any more than what an A5 costs.

Is there any other shotguns, maybe some that are cheaper, that I should consider?

Should I choose a Maxus over the A5?

If I was after a self loading shotgun I'd probably look for a SuperX2.

What I have. Cycles faster than I can. Even double tapped it one time on accident.

I hate inertia shot guns. Why take the abuse? If your taking the abuse so is your guns internal action. Gas displaces and divertes the recoil caused buy the pressure in a fired shot gun shell.

Maxus is the best of Winchester sx3 and browning gold plus some.

The gas gun with the most proven design are the Browning Maxus and Beretta.

Not saying the fake A5 and the benelli inertia action are bad guns, they aren't. In grand scheme most people will never use an auto loader enough to wear it out. But think about it what's going to hold up better?

With that said more can be said on how a gun fits someone then how long the internals will hold up....

I'd go to a couple different ranges that rent shot guns and try them all. Then stalk the Internet for a lightly used one. Make sure your not buying from a duck guide though!

I don't understand the love for semi autos. Get a camo cynergy.

I like my Mossberg 930, so I would look at the 935.

It doesn't shoot 3 1/2" but the Tri Star Viper is a great shotgun at a good price.
