Ok so I have a turk 8mm Mauser that I have put a scope on. Been working over the years with different rings and ammo to get it to hold zero. Finally got it to hold zero, now trying to figure out at what range my zero is. I don't really have a place to shoot a measured 100yds or greater. Put the pic below is what it shot at 75yds and 25yds. I know my loads will make some difference but just want a gestimate about my zero, I.E. 150yds, 200yds etc.

As Pictured: Black dot is center cross hair aiming point.

Green dot is impact at 75ish yds. Both impacts are on the second mil-dot below center
Blue Dot is impact at 25yds.

You are not really zero'd yet, at least to the center cross hair. You are still low at 75, which will not get you to 100 yards for the center cross hair. It doesn't make sense that both aiming points hit on the second mil dot. If you are hitting the second mil dot, then you could use that dot as your 100 yard zero to make it work. But you still need to come up at least a few inches for a 100 yard zero, and even more come up for past that.

yeah, I thought that was weird it happened that way to. I know for sure the 25yd shot is correct, that was at the Eagle Gun range in Lewisville a couple of weeks ago. I was just really happy I got a small group of shots together with this old gun. I guess I will try and get to Bass Pro sometime to put some more work into it.

If you're 2.0 Mil low at 75 yards, and 2.0 Mil low at 25 yards, I have to ask, was that at the same scope magnification? Being a second focal plane scope, a Mil is only a Mil at one magnification, usually maximum magnification.

If you're 2.0 Mil low at 75 yards, and a Mil is truely a Mil based on magnification, you'll be nearly 2.0 Mil low at 100 yards. Sight offset does not cause a great difference between a 100 yard zero and 75 yard zero.

Ok, you learn something everyday.

75yds was at 10x

25yds was at 4x, This shot would be the most accurate as far as measurements are concerned.

So at 25 yards it was actually 5 Mils low. If 10X is where a Mil is a Mil, when you reduced magnification to 4X you have to multiply by 2.5 to get actual Mil value. 4 x 2.5 = 10

Bottom line is you need to come up 2.0 Mil (@ 10X magnification) at 100 yards.
