What are the best ones I can buy now?

I've been reading a lot of reviews and the best seems to be UKO Strike Anywhere.

Anyone have suggestions?

None of them I've used in The last 20 years are worth a damn. They'll barely light on the box anymore.

I found the old ones but they are $45 per box.

Why not get one of the high intensity cigarette lighters? That's what I keep in my backpack.

I carry 2 Bic lighters in my pack.

I think Bic lighters are a good way to go. A big clump of dryer lint and/or some very fine steel wool and the spark alone will start a quick fire.

Piston Fire Starter

Among some of the others mentioned (bic and matches) for the sake of redundancy and since that guy Murphy is always my travel buddy, I carry some Petro Jelly soaked cotton balls( will burn 15 min or so unaided) and dryer lint for tinder either in my pack or glove box on the truck at all times.

I'm looking for suggestions on matches. Not other things. It's for lighting propane lanterns and our gas oven. We like matches for this but don't know any good ones.

Good luck. I've been messing with Coleman lanterns for years and haven't found a really reliable match. There are YouTube videos on making your own.
