All, my 15 yr old son is buying himself a new .308, probably Remington. I will buy him a scope. This rifle will be multi-purpose hunting. We deer and hog hunt east Texas (wooded) mostly and west Texas a few times a year. Yeah, I know, better caliber choices out there for intended use....... He's set on .308. Can ya'll give some recommendations for a descent scope for the intended application with price point that's around $300?

Thanks in advance,

TXPower

Burris Fullfield II in 4.5-14x40. Great scope for the money, which is (last time I looked and last time I bought one) $300. Though if you are in the woods mostly, a FFII in 3-9 will be cheaper.

I've got Leupolds, Vortex, Bushnell, BSA, Weaver, and Burris. The Burris compares well to the Leupolds in terms of use in fading light, clear sharp glass, and overall usefulness.

there are a lot of good scopes out there in the $300 range Leupold VX2 Nikon monarch 3 lower magnification and perhaps if your total budget is $300 with bases and rings a vortex diamondback. Each scope will be different to each eye that looks threw them

My favorite caliber is .308, for $300 I'd get him a Zeiss Terra 3-9x40 or a Leupold. Both of those scopes will be better than anything else in the $300 range.

I just picked up a Remington 700 SPS tactical .308 and put on a Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40 And so far I've been pleased with it. I paid right at $200 for it.

I have the Redfield Revenge 6-18 on my Remington VTR.
I am very happy with it. Clarity is great for a $225 scope. I generally don't use it on 18x, but it is nice to have when you need it.
More kills with it than I can remember. A few at 200-300 yards.
I love my .308, good choice.
