Bought a scope mounted green light with pressure switch, first night out lit up some hogs at 50 yards and it spooked them into the next county, what gives?

When I use a bow mounted light, I always try to turn it on above them (pointed up to the sky), then slowly lower it into the group. Don't know for sure

They've probably been shot at before with a green light. I've seen pigs just stop and look at the light. Others run like their life depends on it! haha

If it is a white light with a green cover they are not blind to that spectrum.. You need an actual green inferred light. They are more money but worth it. I have found red is the best, but thats just me.

FWIW - I purchased 2 scope mounted lights from Hogzilla. Green and red. Both are great lights and very cost effective. The red light is good up to about 75 yards. The green light is awesome!! Can see out to about 150yrds and to about 250 thru the scope. As stated above, it must have something to do with the green lens.

Last winter I had a pig show up at dusk. This was the first time I could test the green light. I got ready to shoot just in case the pig saw the light. When I turned it on, the pig never flinched. Watched him eat for about 30 mins before I shot him. The light never bothered him at all. After I shot, I packed up the blind and proceeded to go look at the dead pig before I made my 1/4 mile walk back to the ranger. By now it's it DARK, pitch black dark. I knew where the feeder was and was walking in that direction when I heard a noise. I then turned on my green light and there were about 30 pigs at the feeder! I literally walked up to about 10 yards from them and they never knew I was there. It was one of the biggest adrenaline rushes I have had in years. Since then, I have lighted numerous animals with the green light and it never bothers them.

I would highly recommend the Hogzilla brand lights!

I use a red light and my experience tells me pigs can see the light regardless of the color. When I turn the light on some pigs run off, some walk away from the feeder, some run/walk away but come back and others don't move at all. Not sure why it's this way, so now I just turn the light on and slowly move it towards the pigs. If they get spooked I turn it off and wait a few minutes before trying again
