Is it necessary? I am going for accuracy out of an AR. It's a precision rifle, but not a bench rifle. The reason I ask is the current tool I have is only for large primer and I'll have to order one for small. I'd like to save the cash if I can and not have the down time for the product to arrive.
Thanks

You probably won't notice the difference. But I do it on all my brass anyway. I like knowing everything is the same. I think it helps when feeling the primer seat as well

If you're gonna go whole-hog with brass prep, I'd say "do it." If you're not going to weight sort components then it would be a complete waste of time. Since all ARs are not created equal, one night just benefit with the details but if your AR is an off the shelf DPMS or something similar...then probably not.

I just started reloading this year and my first 100-200 rounds, for lack of a better word, sucked. I started uniforming primer pockets and flash holes. I have gotten much better accuracy but I don't know if its me getting better at reloading or tinkering with the brass.

Yeah, very true. Why spend money on everything else and cheap out there. I went ahead and ordered the product.
Thanks!

Except uniform primer pockets. Don't believe it's worth the time?

Brass work is a pain in the azz. I think uniforming flash holes is a great deal more important than uniformimg primer pockets. That being said, I do both.

No.
I do debur the flash holes, though. Another reason I hate virgin brass!

For a couple rifles I do not have a problem since they get Nosler or Lapua brass which aready has about all the prep work you can do done to them.
I do everything I can with Military brass, trim, debur flash holes, uniform primer pockets and weight sort. When I got the 50BMG I got a RCBS case prep center which makes it easy to do those steps but after using a couple others I like the Lyman prep center better but not enough to spend the $ to replace the RCBS one.

Another reason I hate virgin brass! You hate virgin brass cuz you use [censored] brass....if you used Lapua it wouldn't bother you. I didn't realize how spoiled I had become until I bought that 6slr and it used Win brass. You talk about trash. To the original question, yes I uniform pockets...I clean flash holes up too.

Wel when you sit on your azz at a bench, and have ten minutes to make ten shots you can use as expensive of brass as you want. When you shoot on the ground, sitting, kneeling, off barricades, and offhand in weeds and brush you lose brass. Screw Lapua brass, I have 70 acres and a rifle range to maintain.
