I posted a while back about my Great Grandpa's rifle. It was handed down to me this year from my Dad. The rifle is a Marlin 30-30 with octogan barrel. It has a four digit serial number and was made in 1893. My goal for the year was to harvest a deer with the rifle before the season was over.I have been hunting with it all year. It feels great to be carrying it and using it,knowing that it was once in the hands of my Great Grandpa, doing the same. Well this weekend I accomplished my goal. I took a nice fat doe that will feed me and my family many fine meals this year.
I have never been as happy to harvest a doe in all my life. It was a great feeling. The shot was good, and the rifle did it's job after all these years.
This is a pic of my Great Grandpa, with what I believe is the same rifle. He is standing on drivers side of car with his buck. The rifles lever is hanging on the bucks antler.
