I just ate Scimitar Horned Oryx for supper this evening from a bull I shot at Deep Creek Ranch.
This ranch has over 2,000 acres of the best hunting experience I have encountered in Texas. I have hunted a number of game ranches. This ranch is the BEST. Do Not go anywhere else. All animals are born and matured on the ranch. This is very important for fair chase hunters. We hunted all morning and into the late afternoon until I finally got a shot(175 yds.)at the Oryx. I have hunted no fence land in Wyoming and my own farm (1000+ acres) in Nebraska and this is the real thing. I will be returning.
Travis was a fantastic guide!

$550 per group per day, however, we did not stay at ranch, stayed in Waco. No lodging or food costs at ranch. Travis charged us $75.00 guide fee. The best experience I have had at High Fence hunting in Texas.

I arrived at Deep Creek Ranch early in the morning. Travis met me at the gate.
We sighted in my rifle (as required per ranch rules) at 100 yards, (2 inches high and 1 inch to the left). OK per Travis.
Travis and I are on a spot and stalk hunt for Scimitar Oryx bulls. Deep Creek Ranch is a 2,500 ranch; there is no enteral fencing and all animals are born on the ranch.
We spent over 3 hours traversing the ranch - No sign of Oryx bulls. Then we came across a small herd of Oryx some 500 yards away; they were feeding in a meadow.
We saw a bull that we wanted.
Next, Travis said that we should make our way to a blind on a hill above the Oryx; the blind was some 200 feet above the meadow and 250 yards away from the meadow.
We drove as far as we could up the hill. The last 1/4+ mile was covered on foot. We got to the blind and waited for the Oryx. Soon a few were visible;and then a few more presented themselves. The bull that I wanted to take, then appeared. He was moving to the right.
Travis let out a piercing call which stopped the bull. I made the shot, at 175 yards. It was a neck shot. The bull went down and a few kicks later and it was over.
Scimitar Oryx is the best tasting exotic meat I have ever eaten. Thanks again to Travis and the Deep Creep Hunting Ranch. I will be returning.

Sounds like a great hunt. Did you see any other animals? He has a good price on Black Buck that I'm interested in.

I did see a few Blackbuck, very weary; Aoudad from 500 yards+; Elk and Lechwe ?. I would think a BB hunt would be great. I am thinking about one in 2016.

Did you want a real hunt or did you want to kill one in a field. You need to ask yourself that question.

Considering that there are very few free range black bucks in this country, it sounds like it would be a "real hunt"!
