My brother was hunting this morning and was in his blind on a pipeline at our lease in Wood Co.
He text me at a little after 9:00 and said he had just watched a huge fawn colored cat lope across
the pipeline just on the other side of his feeder. He said there was no doubt as to what it was.
I talked to him on his way home and he was insistent about it. I have no reason to doubt him.

I can't believe you'd try to pass off a black panther sighting by saying it was fawn colored....

for shame.

I asked him that. He didn't have time.
He said it was at a fast lope and didn't take it long for it to cross the pipeline.
His rifle was leaned against the corner of his blind.

Understand your pain, hunt in Harrison county and was waiting at the gate for my hunting buddies talking to one of the well hands and he asked if I had seen the big cat. Sure makes walking into the stand it the dark a little different. We are bow only, no guns allowed.

There have been 2 killed in the past within a mile or two of your place. One in the 70's and one about 10 yrs later. Might have been one more in the 90's also.

I agree with you Erathkid. None in Texas. That is, since that one was killed about 5 miles miles from your place on December 7th of this year.

Why is it so hard for people to believe there are mountain lions in Texas? I Grew up in mountains in New Mexico lived there for 20 years. I've seen 3 mountain lions the whole time. So just because you don't see one in Texas don't mean they're not here. They are very hard to catch a glimpse of when you know they are everywhere. I can only imagine how hard it would be to see one when they are probably few and far between. That being said I saw an article of one being killed outside of Glen Rose somewhere. Chalk mountain I belive. He was a pretty handsome cat

In 50 years of hunting, I've only seen 3. One was in Montana, another in Colorado and the 3rd in New Mexico.

All the new technology ie trail cams are going to show what's out there. But that still don't mean your going to find them. They are smart animals

They are around the panhandle. We had them in the Sandhills and around bull lake. I heard of one guy that shot one and some old folks at a retirement home took a picture of two that were in a field.

there are plenty here in texas for sure
and the main prey of choice from the article I read was whitetailed deer
west of walnut springs a co worker killed a large one a while back
it came to water on his familys ranch near Iredell

It amazes me how many black panthers get misidentified as mountain lion.
