My daughter has been drawn for the upcoming Youth GDE Hunt Dec. 27th-30th at James Daughtry WMA. I wanted to check to see if anyone could tell me which compartments would give her the best chance to harvest a good buck. Can anyone forward information?

I hunted the mAnagment hunt a couple of weeks ago. Any unit there has plenty of deer and a few great bucks. The most important thing is to really corn the area you are hunting up. The deer really responded well to the corn a couple of weeks ago.

What compartment did you hunt? Did you see any good bucks on your hunt. Thanks for the heads up related to the corn. I would assume the rut should be in progress during her hunt?

I've been in compartments 11, 12, 14 & 15, and I've seen bucks in each one. Let me know if you see javelinas when you go -- I've been drawn for the javelina hunt in February.

Which compartment did you like the best or would you recommend? I will let you know related to the javelins when we get back.

I'm most familiar with 15, and have seen big bucks out there. There is a blind set up to the NE of the entrance, but I've seen more deer in the clearings NNW of the entrance.

Can't wait and hope to beat my last harvest there 12 years ago!
