Buddy goes hunting at the heavily pressured area north west of the metro area few weeks ago before the split. He's walking out afterwards and runs into a deer hunter. They exchange greetings and my buddy ask him "so how did you do?". The gentleman replies "I didn't see any deer but when I got set up about an hour before LST I heard a bunch of rustling in the woods around me, it scared the hell out of me". My buddy replies "What did you do?" Deer hunter replies "I started shooting boom boom boom into the bushes where I heard the noise". Buddy's jaw dropped open and he turned and walked away.

I talked to a hunter that swears he was being stalked by coyotes in the same area and keeps his gun loaded in case one tries to attack him before the sun comes up.

I hunt alone most days on public grounds. Is it a little creepy sometimes?...buck up, the boogie man is not real boys. If you scare easily then stay your butt at the house or in your truck till the sun comes up.

Wear a bright head lamp when walking into your spots. Good luck and be careful out there fellas, the woods are full of morons!

So this deer hunter was shooting blindly into bushes? Good lord I think that's one of the first things you learn not to do in hunter education or just common freaking sense gun safety. That's scary. It's rare that I will educate a stranger when it's unsolicited because normally doing so is kind of rude but in this case you kind of have to tell the guy he should not do that and why...it's so obvious to most but I guess it isnt to him.

I took my wife (then girlfriend) on her first "public land" duck hunt. Before that, she was spoiled with very easy and convenient private land hunts.

We get to a spot, and get setup. 15 minutes after shooting light, a group of hunters set up right in front of us. She was like "what are they doing? We are right here...are they really gonna hunt there?"

Then they skyblasted everything like they had antiaircraft guns. She kept saying..."are they shooting at those?! What are they doing?!...ect.."

Even she could figure out they weren't very bright.

I explained "welcome to public duck hunting"

She doesn't go often if there may be other people around.

I was hunting as far from the road as you could possibly get. This moron was driving around the whole perimeter of the field at daylight asking people if they're doing any good. Squished my decoys.
