I have a fairly good flashlight now but its not very bright, it's good to 50 ft. Asking for help choosing a light with high lumens and fits well in a pocket. Rechargeable is a plus but not necessary. Any suggestions???

Uniquefire T20 and a couple panasonice ncr18650b lion batteries. It'like having a Qbeam in your pocket. I bought mine from China for about 20$ . Buy the Panasonic batteries stray away from recycled laptop batteries like UltraFire.

Over the years, I've owned and used several lights. Personally, I'd go with a LED unit--many companies make them--that runs on AA batteries. This way you can buy AA Lithium, which will last for a long time. And you can keep some spare batteries in your pack.

Personally, I dislike rechargeable lights and avoid units that use odd-sized batteries. You can't find replacement batteries in Yellowknife or Hermosillo, but everyone has AA alkaline and most carry lithiums.

EDIT: Consumer Reports does many battery tests--mostly for cameras but also on flashlights--and claim that lithium is usually worth the extra expense....they cost 4x as much as alkaline, but last 8x longer.

Streamlight and rechargeable, you will not be sorry. I buy the batteries off of Ebay from china and dont leave them in my light when not in use or charging. You can pick up a used stinger pretty cheap on Ebay also.

Same here, about the size of a small marker. Carried the same one through LE and still use it today. AA batteries and adjustable head. The larger ones we used in LE that where rechargeable, will burn ants on a curb, but are much bulkier to carry.

I'll also add that I carry a Welch Allyn exam light left over from my clinic days. It looks like a ball point pen that stays in your shirt pocket and runs on 2 AAA batteries...lithium of course. I always carry it in my shirt pocket while hunting; it's so handy that my regular flashlight seldom comes out of my pack.

Flashlights have become like watches. You can spend a lot of money for something that carries a high-end label, but at the end of the day it creates no greater outcome (lumens) than something that costs a lot less.

I'm a flashlight junkie and have lots of them. I've had streamlights and they are great lights. However, I recently bought one off eBay and I love it. 2200 lumen and less than $20. Agreed, but I got a high end light before these cheap knock offs came around. lol Here's the one I have. Its a rigid industries and is an 800 lumens. Although it cost a pretty good penny, its been the best light I've come across.

A buddy of mine sells them and was pushing them pretty hard a few years back. I laughed at him and asked who would want to buy a flash light for almost $100. We took it out one night and needless to say I had to have one lol.

I'm gonna sound crazy but trust me. I picked up one of these guys to keep in my camping box. Didn't expect much.. just needed a small light for fishing and stuff like that. It takes one AA battery and lasts a pretty good while. It's super bright.. I can only imagine what the bigger lights can do.. and at this price, you can afford to have a few backups!

Very nice! That's a lot of lumens for a pretty good price. Hows battery life on that thing? I'd be scared pushing that much light out it would be dead in 10 minutes. Maybe I'm wrong.

I've used mine lots and have not charged them much. I don't know how long it would last if you just turn it on and leave it but I would guess a few hours.

I would recommend a nice quality LED headlight.

They are compact enough to carry in a pocket, and sure are nice in freeing up the hands.

Thats got 2 18650mah batteries, those should last you a while on a single charge. I just ordered it to test out.

I use a clip-on cap light just for walking and working on things, and a mini-mag light with a belt holder whenever more light is needed.

I found a clip-on cap light at Walmart that uses a single, AAA battery. Most of them use the more awkward pancake-type batteries. It has switchable clear and red LED's and tilts for a more precise angle while working. Plenty bright for walking and hands-free work. I like it so much I think I'll pick up another during my next store visit.
