headed there for a whitetail hunt in early January..... anyone been there or heard much about this place. It was recommended by a guy my dad knows. He is actually going with us I think. I'm after a 150 class whitetail and have never been on a guided hunt before....(never hunted Texas at all) I'm not a rookie to deer hunting....I'm 40 and have hunted since I was 12. I prefer bowhunting but will be taking the rifle along for this trip. What can I expect as far as seeing a variety of game?...I know it's a big exotics ranch. Any info will be appreciated... I also heard something about tipping the guides...???? what's common?
I'm new to the site, live in South Arkansas.

Rattle Snake Springs is near Camp Verde. See a lot of different animals where it fronts on Hwy. 173. Good luck, it should be good.

Tip is about 10% the cost of the hunt, or more if you feel like it, so a $2000 dollar hunt you would tip $200.
Cabin rental in Pagosa Springs, Co. Sleeps 10, If interested please PM me.

I've been there 3 times, and brought home a blackbuck, texas dall, pere david (cow), and a axis buck. It's a very nice place, especially the main house. The food is usually very good, and each time I have been the ranch manager Bobby Stuart and the guides have been great. The place is only about 500 acres, but has a ton of cover. You may, or may not, see a deer which meets your expectations simply because there is so much cover. Overall it's a beautiful place with good people, and you will definitely have a good hunt. Post some pictures after your hunt for all of us to see!

Post some pictures after your hunt for all of us to see! How hard are they willing to work to get you a deer? I consider myself a seasoned hunter and I'm not scared to work for one. I will spend every waking moment while I'm there searching if they will work with me. I really feel like I probably won't get another chance to do a hunt like this for several years and want to come home with a good buck. I know there are no guarantees and it's still hunting but I'm willing to work for it if they are. I've heard some places are good about that and others just sit you in a stand with them and wait. I'm excited for the hunt, but a bit apprehensive at the same time. Everything I've heard about this place has been positive but you just never know til you get there.

well the hunt fell through. they aren't a mld ranch and I could only go the 9-11 of jan. which is after the close of the season. I'm looking for a mld ranch now that might have something left. If not we are going to do Rattlesnake springs next season.
